Accelerit Technologies’ primary goal is to provide access to high-speed Internet connectivity in South Africa as a whole and this includes remote areas as well. With its Secondary Cities Initiative, it has dedicated its focus in the first quarter of 2021 to reach communities that are not classified as urban metropolitan areas. With the current economical climate imposed by the effects of the pandemic, Accelerit has made it its mission to address the increase in demand for connectivity in these areas, as well as re-introduce employment opportunities in the affected communities.

“We are really excited about the Secondary Cities Initiative; it has always been a part of Accelerit’s core mission to ensure that South Africa’s remote communities have access to high-speed and reliable Internet services. It is our intention to uplift, educate and provide opportunities by ensuring there is access to information that is readily available in metro areas,” said Lelethu Mjekula, FTTX Manager for Accelerit Technologies.

The Secondary Cities Initiative targets areas such as Pietermaritzburg, Richards Bay, Potchefstroom, Tzaneen, Mokopane, Kroonstad, Louis Trichardt and Newcastle, just to name a few. Recently, Accelerit has empowered local, aspiring telecommunications businesses in Mokopane by partnering with them in the targeted quest to provide Internet services to over 3 766 homes. The growth of our local partner through this initiative has been unprecedented. Our partners are now able to develop their internal sales and marketing teams to keep up with the demand of Internet services that are now afforded to them.

With continued strategic partnerships with over 30 fibre network operators such as Openserve, MetroFibre, Frogfoot, Vumatel and ZoomFibre, Accelerit looks set to provide active Internet services to more than 100 000 homes by the end of 2021.

“Our mission is to get as many people as possible connected and, as such, have myriad offerings allowing people to connect at no upfront installation cost whatsoever on a number of FNOs. Where there is no fibre at all, we invite those communities to contact us for an assessment so that we can bring high-speed connectivity to them. Accelerit is proud to be at the forefront of such an empowering movement by playing a pivotal role in the introduction of FTTH (fibre to the home) services to all feasible areas,” continued Mjekula.

Accelerit also has a reseller programme, which allows local WISPs and enterprising individuals to sell its products and earn in the region of R50 000 per month. Active local resellers that are looking to partner with Accelerit in any of the regions where fibre is being installed are welcome to contact Accelerit by e-mailing management@accelerit.co.za or (010) 500 0220.
